Spring 2010

Greetings and welcome to my faculty web site at Champlain College. All of my current class information is available here along with syllabi, tutorials and links to useful sites. I've updated this site with a new look but my main motivation was a general cleanup of the code and transition over to full CSS. I've also separated scripts, resources and tutorials into their own pages.

Champlain EGD forums...
If you're new to the Champlain College Game Development arena I highly recommend you sign up for the Champlain EGD forums. The student run forums are a great place to share work and give and receive comments and critique from faculty and fellow students. It's also the primary hot spot for sharing our game dev community happenings.

Spring update...
I have to mention the reconfiguration of Foster 104. I've had almost nothing but positive reactions to the new layout but a few people seem confused about why we would turn the monitors to face the wall instead of the instructor! In short, the new layout matches the teaching methodology we like to use: demonstrate, explain, do. In my experience, students who try to follow along with a demonstration are generally less likely to complete the demonstrated task without further assistance.

We have two new classes being taught this semester, Introduction to Game Art & Animation and 3D Modeling II.

Sr. Portfolio starts up again. This is the class in which the Game Art & Animation Seniors package their portfolios up into a marketable format. At the end of the semester their demo-reels are showcased in the Senior Show so plan on attending.

GDC!
It's Spring again which means GDC is on the horizon. If you're a Senior, please, PLEASE, P L E A S E, consider attending this conference. Most can't afford the $1400 - $2000 price tag of the All Access Pass but there is an Expo Pass for $195-$250 and a Student Pass for $75. Full pricing can be found here.
